Hi

Myself and my wife are living in the UK for the past 8 years, we have ILR. Our daughter was born in India and joined us 3 years back and she also has ILR. We will be eligible to apply for Brit citizenship in August. Can I apply for daughter's citizenship now?

Thanks

Apply together when you're eligible.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I recently got job in Scotland and my wife is near London. We are sending her to India for 2 to 3 years where she is going to stay with her grand parents. Her school in India is going to start in 4 to 6 weeks from now. I thought it is best for her to get citizenship before she goes to India.

Regards

You cannot apply for registration of your daughter as a British citizen until such time that either parent applies for naturalisation (or has been naturalised).

As she was born outside the UK, I don't think that she can apply before a parent does.
