Queries regarding switching from GTV to ILR

Post by arun007 » Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:56 pm

Hi,
I am currently on a Global Talent Visa, endorsed under the Endorsed Funder route. I have now completed 3 years and I am now considering applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate any advice you can offer.

1. I have lived at three different addresses since I moved to the UK. For the first two addresses, I have tenancy agreements and council tax bills in my name. However, for the third address, I am staying with a friend, and while most bills are in my friend's name, the water and internet bills are in mine. In this context, I was wondering if it would be acceptable to submit the water and internet bills as proof of residence instead of a council tax bill for my ILR application.
2. Additionally, I have worked in two jobs since arriving in the UK. For the ILR application, should I obtain letters confirming leave of absence from both employers or would a letter from my current employer suffice?
3. I am about to send an email to my current employer to request this letter, and I would appreciate your advice on what details it should contain beyond the usual information, such as my position, date of joining, and leave of absence.
4. I also have a question regarding the leave of absence: should the leave dates match exactly with the periods when I was outside the UK? For instance, last year I travelled to my home country for 45 days, during which I used a week of the work-from-home option while in my home country.

Thanks for the help!

1. Proof of residence is not a thing. Why do you think this is even needed ???

2,3. There is no specific requirement.

Checkout: There is no specific earning requirement for ILR under Global Talent Visa route

4. You simply have to enter the departure and re-entry date on the form, nothing else is needed. There is no need for an absence letter
Advice is given based on my personal research and experience only. Do NOT contact me via private message for immigration advice

Thanks very much for the information, Zimba. Somewhere, I have seen that we might need to show proof of residence, perhaps for some other visa. Indeed, the link that you provided was useful. Thanks again!
