SKW - ILR - Employer issued absence from UK document - Needed?

Post by Acces » Wed Jan 07, 2026 2:32 pm

Dear all,

I have been following the immigration boards and information here is very helpful. Specifically thanks to Zimba and few others who share their wealth of knowledge on this forum.

I am a new user on this forum and I want to request guidance on the following. Apologies if my questions are repetitive and have been previously answered, please kindly redirect me the responses.

My specific case -
ICT Visa - June 2019 to Feb 2022.
SKW - Mar 2022 till date
ILR Eligibility - Mar 2027

Employer wise -
Employer A - From 2019 to Feb 2026
Employer B - From Feb 2026 onwards (Changing Employer) - I would have worked for 1 year for the new employer by the time I apply for ILR.

Travel Outside UK - 3 Travels -
1) During ICT - one travel (during Dec 2021) for total of 22 days
2) During SKW - one travel (over Jul-Aug 2023) for total of 32 days (22 working days)
3) During SKW - one travel (over Jul-Aug-Sep 2024) for total of 37 days (27 working days)
  • It was a combination of working remotely and leaves/bank holidays during those travel periods. I continued to be fully employed, have Payslips, bank statements, P60 etc to suffice this.
  • I also have the travel tickets, boarding passes and of course the passport has all the stamps to support the dates.
My queries -
Q1 - Do we need any document from our employer towards time spent outside UK during the 5 years of ILR period or if the documents (payslips, bank statements, P60, travel tickets, passport stamps etc) are enough?
Q2 - If so, would I need it from my new employer alone or from both new (for any future travels before ILR) and current employer (for travel 2 and 3 above) to cover the 5 year SKW period?
Q3 - I am not aware if my employer explicitly issues any letter to this affect but assuming if its needed, what should be on the letter to tick the box for ILR?

I have read previous posts on immigration board and I think Zimba mentioned that something like:

"X is entitled to 25 days annual leave per year, in addition to bank holidays. All absences have been taken in line with his annual holiday entitlements and he has not taken any unpaid leave"

Any guidance towards the questions I have raised will be very helpful. Thanks.

No employer has to verify what you did during your absences from work (how would they know??) so they are not expected to confirm any dates you spent outside the UK either. A sponsor simply confirms that all absences from work were approved by them, that is all. Only your current sponsor matters.
