Hi,

My visa was approved on 11/10/2013 but the BRP card issued on 30/10/2013, please advise should I calculate my continuous stay from the date my visa approved 11/10/2013.

Please guide me. I am wondering what happened to the original thread owner, could you please update me if your ILR approved based on approval date?

thanks in advance, any help much appreciated!

Helpful if you stated more detailed information, i.e. what visa category do you hold for the full 5 year period (different rules apply to categories) and did you apply for a visa within the UK or from abroad in 2013??

The probably safer to apply closer to the BRP date (within 28 days before).

I had the same issue- my Tier 2 General was approved on 20-03-2013 (I had the letter on me) but the BRP was dated 25-04-2013... I applied for my ILR on 21-02-2018 (based on the approval date) and it was granted.

‘You must calculate the relevant qualifying period by counting backward from whichever of the following is most beneficial to the applicant:
• the date of application
• the date of decision
• any date up to 28 days after the date of application’

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... .0-EXT.pdf

Had I known this information at the time of my ILR application, I would have applied earlier.

If you don’t have your approval letter, you can always write to UKVI asking them to reissue a copy.
