Why does it take so long to process an ILR application via post?

Via the premium service you pay £600 extra and within a couple of hours your application is proccessed. Via post its takes months!

Do they just sit on the applicaton for months and then approve/decline application? Do they run extra checks? Anyone know why?

Actually simply in the queue. Like what you said, if the case is straight forward, the decision can be made in the same date.
