ILR Acknowledgement Letter

My wife needs the letter of acknowledgment form the UK Government for her ILR application and needs to show the letter to her employer cannot continue to employ her without this.

1) As I understand it is a letter of confirmation and not an email?

2) Is the letter of confirmation sent directly to the visa applicant's employer or to the visa applicant home address?

3) How long does a letter of confirmation take to be sent out?

4) Is there a UK Gov phone number we can phone to ask about this issue?

Usually sent to applicants address. Note not everyone always gets a letter.

It would be useful if you stated when she applied and whether she used the online form or the paper form.

When did or does her visa expire??

Current visa expires on Monday 8th October 2018 the application was by paper-form via recorded delivery which we know was received and signed for. The form completed was SET(M) -Version 07/2018.

SET(M) sent via recorded post on Tuesday 18th Sept 2018 and received and signed for on Wednesday 19th Sept 2018. The visa fee payment has been taken from our credit card.

The letter could take a couple of weeks.

As she applied before her current visa expires, her existing visa conditions continue and she is allowed to continue working under Section3C of the immigration rules.

Her employer can use the checking service, if she has an HO reference number, and HO will confirm directly with the employer on her right to work.

See also Section 3C Leave (click to read)

Might be worthwhile showing this document to her employer and also they need to be mindful of a potential unfair dismissal case if they terminate her work for this ILR application reason only.

Thanks for the advice. We have 3 reference numbers; HO ref no. / CaseID / Unique Application No. - my wife has sent all 3 to her employer so hopefully one of these can be used for "checking service".

Thanks. The numbers supplied to my wife's employers have enabled them (as we speak) to start to fill out the online "Employer Checking Service". The only thing I don't know is whether the "Employer Checking Service" will instantly provide the information required or whether it take hours/days - any idea?

I think it might take a couple of days, not sure as I have no experience of using the service.

OK, once the check is completed I'll update this "thread" with how long it took...
