My Wifes ILR...

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum so please forgive my mistakes.

I've had a search on the forum and online for the answer to my question, but I couldn't find a definitive answer.

A bit of background to help explain my situation...

I'm a British National by birth, born in the UK, lived here all my life. I got married back in 2013 to my now wife in India. I filled out all the required info and she got her 1st spouse visa (approx. 2.5 years) to come to the UK. She arrived 1st week of Nov 2013. Since then we have applied for the 2nd spouse visa (approx. 2.5 years) successfully. We have recently applied for ILR back in mid Nov 2018.

So my questions really are:

1) How long does it really take for the application to be processed? (her current visa - biometric runs out in approx. 3 weeks) I've heard up to 6 months, but then I've read sometimes beyond this, even 1.5 years...

2) If and when the ILR arrives, how soon can we apply for naturalisation? (I've read immediately if married to a British Citizen - our situation, others say after 1 year and 1 day)

3) If our naturalisation application is successful (immediate or after a year), how soon can my wife then apply for her citizenship / passport?

4) I've heard of a speeded up service, some say same day, If this does exist, will we be eligible for it?

Thank you for your time, any help on the above will be very much appreciated.

Thanks once again

1. Usually 8 weeks, but sometimes longer. 1.5 years is exceptional and usually for complex immigration history applications.

2. As soon as she gets ILR and assuming she meets the 3 years residence requirement to apply as a spouse of British citizen.

3. As soon as she has attended her ceremony.

4. There is no same day service anymore. See link below of the new UKCVAS service. This applies to ILR. There is no fast processing for Citizenship applications.
