Hello All,

My UK Ancestry Visa expires in the 1st May 2019 (Canadian with UK heritage)

I have booked the Life In The UK test for Saturday 6th April and have prepared my ILR Application in preparation

I have a few questions

1. How long grace do I have to remain in the UK whilst I away a UKBA response to my application, *although I will be using the super priority service ?

** Hopefully I will be able to get an appointment way before the 1st May 2019 visa expiry

2. Does anyone have experience of the Life In The UK test?

If you apply before visa expiry (in-time application), you continue to remain a lawful resident even after your visa expiry 'under section 3C' until your ILR application is decided.

2. Does anyone have experience of the Life In The UK test?

It is super easy and you should face no issues to pass if you practice online.

Thanks you Zimba. I am currently doing practice tests online. Passed 2 out of 5 , but have three solid days to revise.

Do you know if the actual exam is easier than the practice exams?

Depends on the website. In my experience it was way easier than the websites. I also suggest to read the LIUK book once !!

Hello All

My visa (UK Ancestry) expires on the 1st May 2019 ,

I was due to send off my ILR application today (28 days before) , but did not realise the LITUK test was a requirement for a Canadian

I have booked three tests as a precaution - all at least 7 days apart starting this Saturday 6th, then 16th and finally 23rd April.

What will happen if I get to my visa expiry date but have not passed the LITUK test?

If you don't pass the test, you will have to apply to extend your visa before your current visa expires.

Do not submit an ILR application if you have not passed the test.

Liuk is a requirement for everyone who is not exempt because of age or medical conditions.

Thank you and I presume my only extension option if providing all of the UK Ancestry documents again and paying the extension fee?

Note that the date of ILR application is the date you submit and pay online and not the date of your appointment at sopra. Your documents therefore must be dated on or before the date of online submission.

You also need to complete the LIUK details in the form as you would have seen.

Correct. With a hefty Ihs fee too (£2000) plus visa fee.

If you pass the test first time, you also won't get your £100 back for the other 2 tests you booked.

I did expect that to be the case, but given the costs if I don't pass and the dates get booked up soon I had to do it.

I am submitting my ILR Application today. I have all the documents expect one which is coming in the post.

Can I submit and pay today and upload the documents at another date prior to the appointment.

Is this letter sufficient as part of my application from UK ANCESTRY to ILR?

If not what else needs to be included

Thank you, are passport photos required any longer for ILR. Nothing suggests that I need to supply these any longer

Hi all

My visa UK ANCESTRY was approved around 8th April 2014 whilst I was in Canada making the application

I returned to the UK on the 1st May 2014 (my UK Ancestry Visa is 5 years from the 1st May 2014 onwards)

However I didn't arrive in the UK (due to flight time) until the 2nd May

Will this 1 day cause an issue with '5 years continuous residence'?
