ILR Timing – Skilled Worker Visa Queries
Posted: Mon Dec 15, 2025 8:58 pm
by amar2k05
Background:
I am on a Skilled Worker visa with a vignette start date of 26 February 2021 and entered the UK on 10 March 2021. My current visa expires on 10 April 2026. I understand that I can submit my ILR application no earlier than 29 January 2026 (28 days before the vignette start date).
Query:
Is it permissible to submit the ILR application slightly earlier than 29 January 2026 (e.g., 3 weeks before) and schedule the biometric appointment on or after 29 January 2026? A solicitor advised a friend that this might be possible, but I am unsure if this is correct.
Questions:
Can ILR applications be submitted before the 28-day window if the biometric appointment is scheduled later?

Yes, that's possible.
The date of ILR application or biometrics appointment is less relevant, it's the date of ILR decision the most beneficial.
This has been discussed on this forum so many times.

ILR Application – Skilled Worker - Clarification on Bank Statement
Posted: Mon Dec 22, 2025 10:08 pm
by amar2k05
Hi all,
I came across the following guidance on payslips & Bank statements in a previous post:
"These documents should be dated no earlier than 31 days before the date of application"
viewtopic.php?t=332923#p2090242
In my situation, I plan to submit my ILR application on 29 January 2025. However, by that date, my most recent bank statement will only reflect my December salary, which was credited on 22 December 2024 (we receive December pay early due to Christmas). The next salary credit will be on 30 January 2025, which falls after my intended application date.
If I submit the December bank statement, it will be more than 31 days old by 29 January 2025.
Could anyone advise what options I have in this scenario if I must submit the application by 29 January 2025?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

ILR - Address proof requirements

Hi,
Greetings of the day.
I am preparing to submit ILR for my self and my dependents and have couple of queries.
1. How many address proofs I need to submit to support my application and my wife's application?
2. How many years I should cover for each address proof?
3. Address proof on my name is sufficient for child dependents?
Thanks,
Amarnath.

ILR Application

Hi,
I am on Skilled worker Visa and currently in the process of preparing my ILR application.
I have couple of questions:
1. My Vignette start date is 26/Feb/2021 and I am counting backwards from this date and applying on 29/Jan/2026. However, I have entered UK on 10/Mar/2021. I came across below question in the ILR application, can you please guide on which date I should fill?
Question:
Date you first entered the UK
When did you first enter the UK?
This is the date you entered the UK when the period of stay you are basing this application on started.
2. I wanted to apply ILR for my family as well and wanted to apply using separate applications and the reason is that I can pay separately using different credit cards as I don't have funds required for all in one account or credit card, but looks like there is no option to apply separately unless I first obtain ILR and then apply for them separately. Is this right?
Thanks.

1. The date you enter on the form has NO relevance to qualifying period calculation for ILR at all
2. You all can apply separately. Their application will be held until yours is decided.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
If understood correctly for question 1 I need to fill in the start date on vignette i.e. 26/Feb/2021, is that right?
For question2 I can't see any guidance/UK Gov links to apply separately before the primary person gets ILR. Only option I came across is adding the dependent applicant's in the application of primary person.
Also, I came across below question for my wife who is my dependent.
Proof of your degree
What will you use to prove your degree taught in English?
a. Degree certificate
b. Official transcript or letter
My wife has certificate from ECCTIS, which option above should I select "a" or "b"? I think I need to attach the certificate with the application?
Regards,
Amarnath.

1. It is the date you entered the UK first. It is not a trick question
2. Link for what ? Guidance for what ?? There is no specific form to be filled. They must fill a separate SET(O) application.
UKVI can see they only qualify after you so they hold that application until yours is decided. You do not need to do anything special
For English language, you select B as you need to upload the letter from ECCTIS

Thank you.
Regarding question 2, to be clear, I was looking for an option where
Step1: Fill my ILR application, pay and submit
Step2: Fill my wife's ILR application, pay and submit
Step3: Fill my Son's ILR application, pay and submit
But I can't do above as I have to add the applicant's in my application itself and pay in one go. I was more looking for a split payment.
Regards,
Amarnath.

You simply complete 3 separate forms for each person. You then do NOT add your dependents to your form.

I tried that but the questions in the application are only relevant to primary person. For example there is no question on "English language" & there is question "What is your relationship to the main applicant?".

Your spouse Set O form, she is the applicant and you complete the details for your spouse, not yours. Same for your child, child is the applicant.
In your form, you only out your information, no dependents.

You have now been told SEVERAL times that they will NOT be part of the same application. It will be a SEPARATE application for them

Ok, got it, separate applications with my login, adding dependent applicants and filling up their forms, i have already done that. In this case I need to do single payment for all 3 of us. I have asked this question regarding applications just to know if there is a possibility of paying individually, looks like there isn't. That's what I wanted to confirm.

Yes, you can apply and pay separately.
Do you mean pay for each applicant separately ??

Yes, that's correct. I want to pay separately for each applicant using 3 separate credit cards as I have don't have that many funds in my back account to pay together in one go and none of my credit cards has that much balance available to pay in one go. Hope you understood my situation and requirement

You can only pay separately for each
application. If there are multiple people in an application, then you have to pay for all of them. Unless you apply for each person separately, which is also possible but children must use form SET(F)

Thanks.
I want to pay separately for each person.
For my wife will it be Set M?
Isn't Set F for children whose parents are already settled? Or can I apply for Set O for me, Set M for my wife and use that application references for my Son's set F application?

SET(O) for each adult and SET(F) for each child.
I already told you that the UKVI will hold any dependant application until the main applicant's application is decided
SET(M) must NOT be used -->
DO NOT apply using form SET(M) if you are a dependent of someone under a work related route
