EEA Family Permit

Post by LoveGuru » Sat Mar 05, 2011 8:37 pm

I am married to an EEA national and got my EEA Family permit issued to myself in September 2006 and expires on 22 September 2011. I was made redundant last year November and am currently actively seeking employment. I have interviews next week and am concerned with employment at this stage as I actually only have 7 months left on my permit before being able to apply for permanent residency EEA4 form.
I phoned UK Border Agency and they said I should apply for an EEA2 which will validate me working until September 2011 and then apply for EEA4 later. Well my actual problem is this - am I legible to work for the next 7 months and how would prospective companies view this, could they withdraw offers because of this?

Thanks

On what basis is your EEA spouse exercising treaty rights? Your right to be in the UK and to work here only depends on what your EEA partner is doing.

You do not require a Residence Card (the EEA2 application) in order to work. Although employers do have to be cautious in requesting proof of your right to work, I would be surprised if they rejected a valid Family Permit. When you called them, did you explain to the UKBA that your current FP was valid until 2011?

Will you be applying for PR at the same time as your spouse?
