Dear all,
I saw that the rules with regards to ADR have been made very difficult since 2012, but I would value your opinion on this matter.
I am originally from Syria and became a British citizen (2009). I have a good stable job with decent income (about £80k). My parents and siblings were in Syria, but as you can see on the news things are becoming more and more difficult. Over the last couple of years my siblings left Syria as it was becoming dangerous for young people to stay there (potential to be pulled into the army). One of my brothers has claimed asylum in the USA, the other brother claimed asylum in Holland, and my sister has recently arrived in the UK and claimed asylum. This left my parents on their own in Syria.
My dad is 78 and has general old age weakness and requires help and care and my mum is 61. We don't have any other first degree relatives in my city to look after them. Reasonable care and quality of life is impossible to achieve there now. They get running water once every 20 days and electricity for an hour a day. I am trying to see if I can get them her under the ADR rules.
It is not possible to provide care for them in Syria as none of us is able to go back to Syria. It is not possible to transfer money to Syria in view of financial sanctions on the country and even if we were able to do so, the situation in the whole country is so bad that good care can not really be provided (with bombs flying around and so on...)
Since the events started in Syria, they haven't been giving any visas to Syrian people so it will be very difficult for them to get a visitor's visa.
I wonder if you feel that we would have a good case to apply under this category?
Your opinion would be greatly valued
