UK Spouse Visa - P60 Query, we need help

Post by Gavster76 » Thu Nov 22, 2018 12:09 pm

Hello all,

We understand most if the requirements needed for the financial section of the application. However, there seems to be a grey area regrading P60's, especially in my scenario. I am sure that there may be other people that have come across this, so I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what is required in order for the application to be accepted. My wife is Thai and we are looking to submit the application in February 2019.

My circumstances:

Started my full time permanent job in July 2018, so in February 2019, I would have been in my job for 6 months, will have 6 months payslips, 6 months bank statements and my basic salary is £18,600 gross.

However, I have seen some posts where people have been rejected by not supplying a P60 with their application. P60's are given at the end of the financial year, so if you are submitting your application to show 6 months salary, I can't see how or why this would be relevant?

I used to be self employed, so in tax year 2017 - 2018 I was self employed for 11 months and was employed in a permanent job for 1 month of that tax year and left there in June 2018, my salary there was £22,500.

However, in the last tax year 2017 - 2018 my self employed earnings come to roughly £16,000 plus 1 months salary employed, so I am under the £18,600. Do I need to submit my P60 for the 1 month period that I was employed and my tax returns for when I was self employed in that tax year for the other 11 months? If so will it go against me if my earnings were below the £18,600 pa at that time?

We are applying as category A in the application, so I just wondered if my previous situation will affect my current situation, even if my current situation for the 6 months of my employed, showing payslips and meeting the £18,600 etc fits the correct criteria, so basically do I need a p60 anyway even if it is not relevant to my current situation? If so, does anyone know the reasoning behind this if the only p60/tax returns that I can supply from the previous tax year will not meet the required criteria, but they still want to see it anyway?

Thanks in advance.

if you have 6 months of payslips and bank statements and employer letter then p60 won't be needed.
