English Test requirement for spouse

Post by Globe Trotter » Sat Feb 23, 2019 2:26 am

Hi,
After getting my ILR, if I want to call my spouse to UK, I believe she will have to appear for IELTS A1 from an HO approved test centre and test on current list.

Can she be exempt from taking this test?

She has done her graduation in English from a commonwealth country, so can we get her qualification assessed from NARIC to check if she is exempt from taking the English Language Test?

Many thanks,
Globe Trotter

A lot commonwealth country's graduation/bachelor degrees are not equivalent to UK bachelor degrees and getting NARIC comparability report costs same as passing the A1 test. Another wise option is to pass B1 English test which may help for all subsequent applicantions.
