Travelling after notification to home office of end of relationship

Post by Osol » Sun Mar 31, 2019 3:14 pm

I informed the home office of the end of my relationship with my ex at the beginning of January. He has not received a curtailment letter and I did not have his new address so could not provide it.

He is travelling out of the country for a fortnight. What are the chances he may struggle to come back or would they just expect new evidence when he is due to renew?

I’m not expecting definite answers jus speculation based on people’s experiences or even opinions.

Thanks

Maybe HO has curtailed his visa and had sent the notification letter to his old address. In that case he won't be able to enter as airport immigration staff will be holding that information in their system.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

If the Home Office have up-dated his records to reflect your information but have yet to curtail his visa then on his return he is likely to go through the following:

He will probably be stopped and be asked about his relationship - if he lies and states the relationship is ongoing then he is heading down a route that may see him being detained / denied entry / removed. He will be accused of deception at the point of entry and things will look bleak.

If he is honest and states the relationship has broken down but he is yet to receive any curtailment letter then there is very little they can do other than allow him entry.

If the curtailment letter has been sent out ( highly unlikely given timescale) and he leaves the UK and attempts to return he will be denied entry. How that plays out at the time could be different - could be returned or could be given temporary admission to sort out his personal affairs prior to leaving.
