UK Family visa extension

Dear All,

I am a British citizen since 2012 and my family is here in UK under dependent visas since 2017.

Now it is time for their visa renewal and I am bit confused on the renewal process.

Can someone clarify me on below points.

1) UK family dependent visa for my wife and two kids are expiring at the end of December this year. How much earlier can I apply for visa extension, can I apply any time before the visa expires or do I need to wait until 28 days before the visa actually expires?

2) My son is 5 year old and was born in India, I was British citizen when he was born, can I apply for citizenship for my son after he completes 3 years of his stay in this country or does he need to wait 5 years along with rest of my family members?

1. They can apply extension 28 days fore completing their 30 months since arrived to UK. But preferably unless the personal circumstances/immigration rules are not changing the extension should be applied very close to expiry.

Just wanted to let you know that I have applied for passport directly to my son based on his 'automatic British citizen' right.

FYI - I was already a naturalized British citizen when my son was born.

Our application was approved and we have received my son's British passport just today.

Hope this will help others in the same situation.
