Permesso Di Soggiorno Expired

Hello,
I need some information about my Permesso Di Soggiorno so please kindly help me.
My Permesso Di Soggiorno was Expired in June 2006 , i was in Holland in 2006 and i was facing some faimly problems and was un able to go back in Italia to renew my Permesso Di Soggiorno .

I got my First permit (Permesso Di Soggiorno) in 1996 and than i got married in 2002 in Provencia Di Varese , but than i came Holland in 2006 with my wife but unfortunately never went back to Italia because of some issues .

My question is ,
Is there any way that i can renew my Permesso Di Soggiorno ?

It appears you may have lost your permesso, its a permission to stay, not a carti di Soggiorno, and it's been expired since 2006, you will most likely have to start the counting the clock again, even if you do get another permesso.

yes I agree with dalebutt if you have carta you would not have any problem as that's indefinite leave .but you mention that you married in Italy are you married to an Italian than you should have familiari soggiorno and you could be naturalize after period of residence in Italy ,what category soggiorno you had it?
