Barristers vs solicitors ??? Who do I need

Post by itiz » Tue Mar 04, 2014 11:31 am

Hello guys,
I have been speaking to a couple of solicitors and barristers regarding my upcoming appeal. ( Its a removal notice appeal ) Of which I have a very strong argument

A few solicitors have quoted to represent me, however after speaking with a lady this morning, she said a solicitor is NOT allowed to speak in courts and I would need a barrister.

Am also confused on barristers as the ones I have called, ...

1. Quoted £240 an hour for consultation

2. and then said after listening to me, would tell me their fees and cant give me a fixed amount, until I pay first.

I havent got time, and does anyone have any advise and recommend any reasonable representatives

Here is my right of appeal

Have you checked with your local law centre? how about Duncan lewis? The solicitor will instruct a barrister for you.

Legal help is very expensive.Good luck with your appeal.

A solicitor does have rights of audience in the lower courts and can train for rights in the higher courts. Barristers have rights in both. Barristers are usually instructed to deal with court proceedings. Many solicitors are actually better advocates than barristers. Depends on the area of law.
