when to extend

Hi all
my wife has a spouse visa. She hasn't stayed in UK for 2 years so needs to extend her visa by filling in FLR(M) form

Her spouse visa expires in mid July

I was wondering how soon can i apply for extension?

Any time shortly before expiry of leave.

so i cant do it few months in advance? its because i am going maldives end of may to early june. so was thinking to get it done now than do it after in mid june
