Baby without passport applying as Tier 2 dependent

Post by brightriver85 » Thu Mar 06, 2014 2:21 pm

Hi,
I'm Vietnamese and obtained my tier 2 visa in 2011, my husband is Chinese and dependent on my visa. We had a baby last year. Now we are going to renew our visa soon and want to apply for Tier 2 dependent for our child as well. However, our baby hasn't had a passport yet. We know that we would like our child to have Chinese nationality, but we won't have enough time to apply for a Chinese passport before renewing our visa (I know, so disorganised :-() Will the Home Office stamp his visa on my husband passport for the time being, and we can get his Chinese passport in the future? If anyone has some relevant experience please share.
Also, without a passport, I'm not sure how to answer questions in the Dependent Application for him. Any advice please?

Many thanks.

If child is not travelling, then don't apply for leave to remain.

The baby will need a passport or be named on a passport to make the application.

Hello both,

Thank you for replying. So we should apply for his Chinese passport first then.

We were rushing because my employer wants to assign my COS before 05 April (deadline to use current allocation) and seems to think that this deadline is also for me to apply for my new visa. But I just thought today, once the COS is assigned before this deadline, we'll have 3 months to use that COS right? If I'm right then we'll have plenty of time to apply for our baby's passport and then submit an application. Please advise if I'm right. Thank you.
