Job offer letter to meet financial requiremtns

Post by Jowels » Thu Mar 06, 2014 9:32 am

I am a British citizen who has been working overseas for the past 12 years. I'm married to an Asian lady and we have a 5-year old son (who has a British passport). We would like to apply for a spouse visa for my wife.

I've been earning over 18,600 for the past 12 months, and I have a job offer in the UK which starts within 3 months of my planned return. The job offer is only for 14,700 per year, but I've had 30,000 in cash savings for the past 6 months, so could combine this with the salary to get over the 18,600 threshold.

The job offer is coming for a childhood friend who runs his own bar / restaurant business. He's had the business for over 8 years, and I'd estimate his annual turnover at 150,000 plus. The job offer is genuine, but we're concerned it will be scrutinized closely by the Clearance Officer. My friend has already provided me with a job offer letter which contains my start date and gross salary ..etc. What other evidence are the UKBA likely to require?

My friend has properly audited accounts, tax receipts, VAT records...etc, but I'm reluctant to ask for them unless they're really necessary. Although we're friends, he's employing me for commercial reasons, and he'd prefer to keep his finances confidential.

So, what evidence (in addition to the job offer letter) will the UKBA ask for? In case it's relevant, my friend is the owner / landlord and would probably be classed as self-employed by the UBKA.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You will require either a letter confirming the job offer, gross annual salary and start date within 3 months of arrival or a signed contract with start date within 3 months.

^ Thanks for the reply.

Is that really all that's needed? I've had to submit close to 40 pages of evidence for my current job.

Won't the UKVI require more than just a letter for the new job?

Sorry for bumping my own thread.

Does anyone have an opinion on what evidence the UKVI will need for the job offer?

If you Google and read the FM-SE it's in there. There's not much more you can prove for a job you have yet to start...

Annex FM 1.7 at page 33 wrote:(a) confirming the job offer, the gross annual salary and the starting date of the employment
which must be within 3 months of the applicant's partner's return to the UK; or

(b) enclosing a signed contract of employment, which must have a starting date within 3
months of the applicant's partner's return to the UK.
