EEA2 RESIDENCE CARD ISSUED on a4 transfer to passport

hi and many thanks for replying in advance.
I applied for residence card under singh route, application was decided super fast 2 months only and residence card has been issued on a4 size paper which is called immigration status document or ISD.
as we requested passport back during process for travel .now checking with ukbs web site it states to transfere to passport have to make new application what exactly does it mean. do they have to re consider application despite it has been granted?
or just new application with all documents we sent before and IDS WILL BE TRANSFERED to passport .
I do not understand logic of making new application .if residence card application is succesfull why to make new application and why ukba don't print the actual cards like I have in Italy or in rest of Europe which is credit card size easy to carry just like a uk driver licence size .and why they call it residence card than if its not a card.

is there any body with experience of transfereing from a4 paper to passport.
there are so many recently scary stories on this forum ahttp://www.immigrationboards.com/eea-route-app ... 0.htmlbout losing passport etc like .
so I do not know whteher to make new application or better of with whatever received.

Residence permit issued on A4 sized page has same worth as it is stamped on passport but paper based Rc may cause inconvenience while dealing authorities like airline, embassy, banks etc. Yes transferring it to passport is equal to make new application.

Sometimes things are not logical...you just need to know that that's how things are done. I'm sure the Home Office has their reasons (e.g. cost or something else). They do use the plastic cards for ILR (many of my friends have these). As you requested your passport back, you probably knew that you would get an A4 sheet of paper.

The point is you now have your residence 'card' on an A4 page, if you want it in your passport you can reapply.

Of course, if you would prefer to have an Italian/other European card the answer is quite simple!

hi many thanks for replies .
I already have the Italian residence card as family member of eu citizen we lived there for 14 months.
and that was issued free of charge .NO FEE
and when we applied we applied in person in local police station all original documents including passports photo copied and original given back at same time.
residence card after.
my point is if ukba issue residence card in form of plastic card it will be a lot better.
