Dependent visa (Tier 2 General) for unmarried partner

Post by hjk123 » Wed Mar 19, 2014 10:03 am

Hi,

I am on a Tier 2 (General) visa. My girlfriend is also here on Tier 2 (General) but wants to leave her job. Can she switch to a dependent/unmarried partner visa? The application will be made from within the UK.

We have been living together for >2 years but are not married.

If yes, what visa category do we apply under?

Thanks!!

Think u'd have to apply for Tier 2 Dependent visas, I think only a BC or settled person can sponsor marriage type visas.

Since October 2013, you can switch in the UK. See also, Dependants of ILR (economic, 5 year route) applicants (click).
