UK Visitor Visa-NHS Treatment During Previous Visit

Post by samrat_g » Sat Mar 29, 2014 10:40 pm

Hi All,

I have a slightly tricky situation and would appreciate comments and advise.

My mother previously visited UK in 2011. During her visit, she had some minor illness for which we went to A&E department of an NHS hospital. She was attended by a Nurse, who gave her some medicines(No Prescription). The nurse actually gave that medicine from her desk drawer. I mentioned to the Nurse that she was not eligible to attain a free treatment from the NHS but we were not advised of any charges for consultation and medication.

My mother is now again applying for a UK visitor visa and the form asks a question about whether the applicant had ever availed any treatment in the UK and if yes, any payment has been done.

I am not sure what would be the right answer. I consider the incident of 2011 was so minor that it is not worth mentioning, but on the other hand, worried that if she say no, then it will be a false statement. Stating Yes, is also a problem because no payment was done in regards to her treatment, which is a violation to her visa condition, I.e. 'No recourse to Public Fund'.

Please can anyone advise me what we should do in this situation. A quick reply will be much appreciated.

Should not be any issue. Just mention she visited A&E for minor illness and was discharged. such A&E visits are free of charge for everyone inclduing visitors.
