Can I make an appeal on my own

Hi,

I got a refusal letter yesterday and I spoke to a solicitor and he is charging a lot of money and was wondering if I can do paper or oral hearing on my own. The reason for refusal was some errors in the bank statements and nothing else, which i can resubmit. also they asked me letters to confirm my relation with my parents as they took them as a third party as we have a joint account and the money was in the same account with my name on the account. So if I can do an paper or oral hearing on my own, how should i go about it, can someone please help. Thank you.
