my ex is an overstayer & applying for custody of our child

Post by Oneloveuk » Thu Apr 17, 2014 10:55 pm

I am sorry if my post upsets anyone. I am currently helping a family friend through an immigration battle and have a live and let live attitude but I need to explain my situation fully in an effort to obtain advice..... I had a relationship with a jamaican man who is an overstayer since 2000 - he was arrested in August 2013 and is on immigration bail. We had a child together in 2013 (after cheated on me repeatedly, beat me up in pregnancy and gave me an sti.....then left me) we reconciled for the sake of our child but he continued to drink heavily and cheat and any protest from me led to physical rows as he tried to walk out on us time after time. He was arrested in late 2012 after beating me up again (charges were eventually dropped) he has not seen or enquired after his child since and has not provided in any way. He has suddenly become interested in our 1 year old despite not seeing our child for for 10 weeks of the first year of life! He is borderline alcoholic, smokes and sells drugs and lives above a disgusting pub with alcoholics, a woman whose children have been removed from her care and others! My child also has a medical condition and my ex has not bothered to have the screening tests asked of both parents by the consultant late last year to aid diagnosis....another blatant disregard for his own childs needs and wellbeing. He also took copies of indecent photos of my teenage daughter (his step child) then 17 (she took for her boyfriend apparently when she was 16 and they accidentally got saved to my laptop as she backed up her phone) and saved them to his memory stick which i discovered and then confronted him. He did not deny taking them and apologised to my daughter (my daughter was very embarrassed and distressed but did not want me to report it to the police)....He lives 5 minutes away where he also works illegally but does not support our child at all. He has now made an application for residence out of the blue after NO CONTACT for the last 7 months. After social services became involved when he beat me up last year, they say he cannot see our child until he attends an anger management course. I fear for my daughters wellbeing and do not want him to have contact, especially as he hasnt bothered until now and he is like a stranger to my child.....we walked past each other the other day and my child did not react in any way....no recognition or anything. He has also proven that he is not safe to be around young girls and I am very concerned about the future. Because he is illegal in the country and is a Jamaican citizen, am I committing any offence by taking my daughter to reside in Jamaica? I am a british citizen.

This person should be reported for possessing indecent images of children which could end up with him on the s e x offenders register.
