Requirement to be physically in uk for BC application

Hi,

Is there any requirement of being physically present in uk exacltly 1yr before the date of application apart of 5yr rule which states to be in uk on the date of application

My frnds who has applied for BC 2yr ago is saying that their are 2 rules one for 5yr and -another for 1yr which is not written in guide but when he was booking the appointment in NCS he was told about it

Please help, has anyone known of any such rule .

If you are applying under 5 year rule you will have had to be present on the day 5 years ago, that is it.
