Spouse name on passport after marriage

I'm wondering if anyone can please help me.


I got married about 6 months ago and after marriage my wife got her passport and ID card made in Pakistan. However, we did not change her name (as in add my surname to her name) as we were planning on doing that in the UK.

She has got my details on both her passport and ID card as me being her spouse, and everything else, nikanama and so on.

I'm just wandering when we go to apply for a spouse visa which we will be doing very soon, will the ECO looking at the case raise an objection as to why she hasn't changed her name?

Is it mandatory for her to change her name, and will they likely refuse the case because of that?

(We have a huge amount of proof regarding contact and subsisting relationship including call logs showing daily 2 hr calls, my visit to pakistan after getting married, pictures, over £1,800 sent over 6 months with receipts and so on)


Please Please Please can someone put my mind at rest, as this is bugging me!

No it wont matter that she has not changed her name.

I'm coming up to the time where I'm getting ready to submit my application and just checking everything over and making sure. For some reason it just dawned on me that because my wife never changed her name it would cause massive trouble for when we come to apply because the officer looking at the case may think we are not married or something?

As I said, I've got plenty of info regarding contact and subsisting marriage, but was just worried, as always!


Would we have to give them a reason as to why we never changed name after getting married or would it not matter?

No need to mention it, just ensure the name on the application is identical to the name in the passport.
