US degree for English requirement

Post by palaremzi » Thu May 01, 2014 3:01 am

Hello
I have a PhD from a US university, which is listed in the Point based Calculator's database. My questions is this. Is it necessary to obtain a letter from NARIC or is it OK if I just print out the Point based calculator's summary document.

Thank you

A print out should suffice, so far as 20 or mire points are awarded for qualification.

Amber_, thanks for the reply.

I filled out the Point Based Calculator as if I am applying for a Tier 2 visa (which is my current visa); and then select my degree and university from the drop down menu. However, it only gave 10 points for the language skills; not 20.

I thought 10 points was the maximum one would get for English skills. For instance, if you select "I am a national from a majority English speaking country" or "I have passed an approved English language test" it automatically gives you 10 points; not 20.

I guess I am missing something...

Thanks for your help.

You don't need to worry about English Skills as the degree was taught in the US. The important points as my post stated as that the degree is awarded 20 or more points for qualification.
