I have a question. when will the documents be returned to me? Is it after the interview or once it has been checked by the passport office?

It varies..I got my documents before my interview.
Ideally you should get it before your interview.

Can anyone advice on what other number to possibly call aside from the 0300 Number, I did not take a copy of my passport application number on the phone and its now been 6 weeks since I applied and the 0300 line couldn't help me but told me someone will call me back but nothing yet. Hi,

I am calling since last week i.e. 22-04-2014 to 0300. Every time they used to tell me the same thing that I will received a call from Liverpool Office within next 48 Hours. But no call from Liverpool Office and the Passport Application Status is same i.e. (Under Examination).

OK I went to the interview today and I am glad it all went fine. There is nothing to worry about and they just want to confirm you are who you say you are. Just the same usual questions about your accounts, addresses, family etc. Make sure you know your area well where you live as I was asked quite a few questions about my vicinity. Interview lasted in less than ten minutes and then we had a chit chat on terrible weather (rain) and shared our thoughts about when summer will arrive.

Modabasi! I have gone through this forum and 50% posts are based on discussion. If you notice there are so many people on this forum who are doing discussion and getting their reply. I dont see any reason why I dont get any help and got a rude reply from you that this is only for time line. I think you cant see those posts which are being shared for discussion purpose. Hi everyone,

I am going to apply for my first British passport. I need your help to clear my confusion. On IPS website the following statement is written:

"Your countersignatory should be a professional person or a person of good standing in the community."

If you notice they have used the word OR in above statement. Does it mean we can use either a professional person or any british person (not professional according to their given options) who knows me for 2 years as a counter signatory?

The term "person of good standing" is subjective but in general the countersignatory must have qualifications and credentials that are able to be verified. According to gov.uk, they should be someone "it is believed will not risk a career or reputation by knowingly making an untrue statement in completing the countersigning section of an application form."

no u have to book urself with reference number on ur letter. u can choose ur own location as well. try to choose earliest one if u can

I had a call from the passport office yesterday asking me to confirm my address after being asked two security questions - my date of birth and town of birth. Is this normal? Something to be worried about? When I asked, when the documents would be returned, I was told that they do not know.

Multiple people assigned for each application at different stage. So, it is expected.

I will check other application timeline and if it exceeds 2 weeks then will call the HMPO. otherwise I won't bother.

Not sure if everyone gets this but I received a text from HMPO saying that my new passport is getting printed and should arrive in next few days....

Such a relief...seems like all went fine in the interview... Not received it yet, bank holiday may have delayed things here for me!
