Applied on 10th April, Received on the 11th. Still nothing, no interview letter, documents returned, and I cant talk directly to the people who know where my things are, just the advice line, who say they will arrange a phonecall from the passport office, but no calls are received. Annoyed

I called them last week and today again. No call back and I got mad when the person said they will call back in 48 hours. The process seems like a joke. I told them that I haven't received the letter and the person told me why don't you book your interview! What! ..I had to tell the person that I need the letter to book an interview!..not sure what to do to be honest because all I hear from them is someone will call back, which never happens. From exprience when somemone doesn't receive the letter, can anyone tell me what happens now and what is the procedure? Frustrated since, I have already had to cancel my travel plans.

I guess you just have to keep Calling, if you care to read all the previous post, my application got to them on the 11th of March and here I am today still awaiting a passport.... if you are frustrated I guess I should be super frustrated .. but I am just taking it in my stride now.. what is more or less certain is that you will get the passport eventually unless you have any show stopper..

Yes, I did pay £3 for special delivery. I believe PO send your application by special next day delivery isn't it ?

I never did and you don't have to provide grandparents details if you are naturalized...just give your parents details and that will be enough! See Page 12 of Guidance notes.

Hi hi used check n send services to apply for my giddy British passport so would I know that my application has been received by passport office??? They don't even give any tracking number which you can look track and tried use gov.uksite entering complete wrong detail and it says that your application has been received so I won't trust that link given on government website

Dear All,

I applied online on 2/4/14 and posted the application along with other documents on 3/4/14 and was received in the Glasgow office on 4/4/14.
Till now I have received no communication and calling the helpline seems a fruitless exercise. They did call me back couple of times but were not able to give any more information than I knew , ie my application is under process.

Today they gave me the number for booking appointment but when I called that line, they said they cant book an interview unless I have a letter and interview reference number.

For those interested, I used the brand-new online application process for a passport. It is a very smooth process, where you fill in all your details, make payment, then print out a declaration to sign and have countersigned. Unfortunately, the process has some bugs. Nowhere on the declaration does it mention that the countersignatory must have known you for at least 2 years, nor does it direct you to the guidance which states this. (The normal application does clearly state this, so it appears to be an omission.)

In my case, they sent me a request to have a new countersignatory, along with a copy of the normal passport application, and instructions to fill in sections 1,2,3,4, 9, and 10. This meant I had to seek out all the information on my grandparents' dates of birth, marriage, etc. I was able to obtain this fairly quickly, thanks to my mum, but it was very frustrating. Luckily, I was also able to get a new countersignatory the next day (including having a new photo signed on the back), and sent the whole thing back without delay.

Of course, it didn't help that they sent me the letter 2nd class, which took 4 days to reach me. This whole issue has delayed my application for at least a week, although more likely 2 weeks. When I received my invitation to interview, I immediately called, even though it was a Saturday, and someone answered. I booked an appointment, but the first available was 2 weeks out.

Honestly, there are so many things they could do to streamline this process.

I called the HMPO and I told them that 48 hrs have passed and I have not received any phobe calls from Peterborough where my application was...then they filled an escalation form and told me to wait for Another 48 hrs,working days.they were supposed to call me by Tuesday but I received call on Sunday at 15.00 and the lady who spoke to me was very straight forward with me,she told me that my passport was printed on Friday, next day of interview and send out already.she gave me the tracking number too and told me by Tuesday ,I should receive my British passport.. I received on Monday... however,I had problems with DX courier to bring back my supporting documents... I must say DX courier is worst courier company ever...
