REPLACEMENT CERTIFICATES OF REGISTRATION/NATURALISATION

Post by Dawie » Mon Jul 30, 2007 10:27 am

For anyone who has lost their naturalisation certificate, or had it stolen or damaged and needs a replacement, there is apparently a very easy way to get it replaced according the British Embassy's website in Canada:
If you were not born in the UK but registered or naturalised there and do not have your certificate a replacement can be obtained from:

Certificates issued within the last 30 years
Liverpool Correspondence Team
Replacement Certificates
Immigration and Nationality Directorate
Home Office, PO Box 306
Liverpool L69 2UX

You should provide the full name, date and place of birth of the certificate holder and any previous Home Office reference numbers available. You should also enclose a cheque or sterling money order for £20 payable to "The Accounting Officer, Home Office" or include Master card/Visa card details in the letter. If the Nationality directorate is unable to trace the certificate a refund will be granted.

Certificates issued more than 30 years ago
Further information can be obtained from:

The National Archives
Kew, Richmond, surrey
ENGLAND TW9 4DU

Telephone: 011 44 20 8876 3444
The full website is here:

In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

"If the Nationality directorate is unable to trace the certificate ... "

That's a bit worrying.
