how to rectify wrong information given in past

Hi
it is very critical question. my friend applied for visit visa in 2012. he mentioned that he has no relatives in uk except the sponsor (cousin). but he had sister in uk. the application was refused due to some other reasons.

now he want to apply on the sponsor of sister. is there any way he could inform Embassy that last time information about relatives was given wrong by mistake.

He does not want to take risk to apply before rectifying that error as it may lead to 320.

Please advise.
