ILR requirements for HSMP holders

Post by aix » Fri Oct 29, 2004 7:18 am

I am an HSMP holder and will soon be applying for ILR. However, I am considering leaving my current employer, and may do so before submitting my ILR application.

Therefore, it might happen that, when applying for ILR,
1) I will be serving my notice period;
or
2) will have served my notice and will be out of a job (may or may not have something else lined up).

Is either of the above scenarios likely to complicate or slow down my ILR application? I am hoping to get the ILR through the same-day service at Croydon.

Thanks
aix

Please read postings by 'Joseph' on this subject,

It would be good if you were employed at the time of ILR application

Good Luck

Thanks for the pointer.

I would be inclined to agree that having a permanent full-time job at the time of ILR application would make for a stronger case.

However, let's just assume for a moment that the applicant (who is an HSMP holder) is between jobs when applying for ILR. What exactly would they need to demonstrate to the HO? Do they have to show that they are "economically active" or anything else along the same lines?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Any first-hand experience?

Thanks
