Unmarried partner of a recent University graduate

Post by onlytimewilltell » Mon Jun 02, 2014 7:46 pm

Hi all,

I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for over 5 years. We met in sixth form and school and then spent a year abroad together at university. I dropped out of this university and returned home to complete my studies where we have no been apart for 2.5 years.

I am now graduating in the summer and she is hoping to come and join me in the UK. As for the requirements I will be starting a job earning over the threshold and we would be planning to live together. However, the major sticking point is that we have not lived together at any point in our lives as it has been unfeasible whilst at university.

I was wondering what our options were and if you could possibly offer any advice?

Thanks

Without the years living together the unmarried partner visa is out.

So your options are:
[*]marriage
[*]a student visa for her
[*]a work visa for her if she can find a company to sponsor her
[*]tier 5 youth visa if she's from a qualifying country.
[*]any other visa she would qualify for in her own right.

M.
