registering Islamic marriage

Post by lola2248 » Tue Jun 03, 2014 10:26 pm

My partners eea4 application has been refused as they are not recognising his Islamic marriage. I understand mosques do not always have the legal status churches have. However, he was told by registering it would become legally recognised. So, the marriage was registered in both parties countries, and london. Is this grounds for appeal?

You can only appeal if refusal is wrong, so you must first check if your islamic marriage was registered legally by the mosque (I believe some can do both now).

But I'd guess this isn't the case so your best course of action is to register the marriage legally in accordance with the Law and reapply. Fact is reapplying is quicker than appealing anyway, plus it matters not one jot as the app is free anyway...
