My wife and I got married after spending less than 3 months actually in each other's presence and 3 years after meeting each other in person, 6 years after first meeting online.

Very similarly - we talked every day.

We still found out an awful lot about each other we didn't know after marriage. Nothing to break the relationship - but we've had some interesting moments! We're still together after 6 years of marriage.

On the immigration question - will it be looked at more closely? Yes. Will it it means UKBA objects if that's the only problem? No.

As long as you've met in person, get married legally and meet the requirements of the visa the you'll be fine.
