Confused about the CSI PR application as student?

Post by coralia21 » Mon May 26, 2014 5:43 pm

Hello,

I'm new to this forum so please bare with me. I have been in the UK since the 18th of September 2008. Entered the UK in order to study, therefore I took a 3 year UG in Manchester from 2008 to 2011 during which I had a valid NI, a yellow card and a job. After the university I had full time continuous work till present time.

Now, I need to apply for British citizenship...in order to do so, I've been told is best to get the permanent resident card so the application will go smother. In order to apply for that I need to of course prove I've been here for 5 years which is easy because I can offer letters from uni and letters from employers...however I keep reading about this comprehensive sickness insurance and I really don't understand what they are asking me to provide as when I got to the UK...I didn't need this?! Or at least I don't remember needing anything?

I have an NHS card and a NI card...about as far as I go. What am I missing please? Any help would be so greatly appreciated.

All the best,

Cory :)

Were you issued a registration certificate at all, when you came.

Hey Obie.

Thanks for the reply. I only got my student card and that's it. A month later my NI arrived and literally that is it.

Also...surely if I have graduated from Manchester university, I don't have to send this to UK Naric, correct? I find their requirements and advice so very confusing, is unreal!

Yes that's right. You should have had medical insurance or an EHIC card issued by your home country for the duration of your studies . If you didn't have it then you'd have to wait another 2 years before applying for PR and then another year for BC.
