Tier 2 : Changing of job sector

Post by madantamu » Thu Jun 19, 2014 10:44 am

Hi all,

I was in Tier 2(General) visa in a company as a business development manager(food/restaurant sector) which has expired now and I have got 60 days to change my employment(CoS).

Is it possible for me look for sponsors in other sectors like IT,Teaching, business etc; not again in restaurant or so since I have got MSc in IT, or am I allowed to change the job sector at all?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Madan

Changing sectors is not an issue as long as your new (to be) employer is ready to sponsor you and follow the CoS application guidelines as per the rules.

Thanks for the reply.

The link https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general/extend-your-visa states that I must have the same job. Maybe this applies to the extension visa only.

Mine is terminated by the company. And if I couldn't find a new sponsor in time, is there any other way to extend the application deadline?

Expiry and termination are two different things for a visa. If your employment was terminated by your employer, they would have informed UKBA of their decision. Did you recieve any letter from UKBA about the 60 day curtailment period? That letter would clearly state the last date by when you need to submit your new Tier 2 application.

If you couldn't find a sponsor within these 60 days, unfortunately, IMO you will have to leave UK.
