Minimum Salary and Job Title

Post by jnasir86 » Fri Jun 20, 2014 9:18 pm

Hello everyone!

My situation: I have been employed with a company in the UK for the past 2 years as a Procurement and Marketing professional under Tier 1 Post Study Work Permit. Now that my Post Study Work permit is coming to end I will be applying for Tier 2 General visa. My employer has the license and they are willing to extend my stay.

What I need to know: My latest salary has been less than £20,000 but I will get a raise when I apply for Tier 2. From my understanding the minimum salary is £20,500 and this is what I have told my employer. However according to the guidance notes I can't seem to find the appropriate salary for my position. Do I qualify as a new entrant? Since the £20,500 is for new entrant. I will be applying within one week time or so and I can't afford to pay for professional advice so would much appreciate it if anyone who is aware of this situation could advise.

In short: What salary do I need to paid? Does the job title effect the circumstances?

Thank you!

the job must be NQF level 6 and your sponsor is responsible for determining the job SOC code. The min. salary is £20,500 or the minimum for new entrants for the job SOC code, whichever the higher. This is provided the period of engagement stated in the CoS is not longer than 3 years.
