Request for allocation Increase

Hi All
My employer has just requested for increase in annual allocation. How long would the process take and how will they be notified?

What is the next process after the allocation has been granted?? Will they be able to print the COS straight away or do they have to request for COS again?

I am totally confused.
Please advise if someone has gone through the situation.
