can you please explain wht this means from ukvi website

Your visa may be taken away (revoked) and you may get a long-term ban on visiting the UK if your travel history shows you’re repeatedly living here for extended periods

actually i plan to apply for a 5 year visit visa for my parents .prevoulsy they had a 2 year visa ans they lived approximately 5 months in ech year. wil this affect their visa for 5 years.

They would generally regard more than 6 months in a year as 'long periods'.

It's all about the situation though. Someone who comes and goes from the UK regularly and ends up spending 50-60% of their time here wouldn't probably fall foul of that. Someone who comes for 6 months solid, departs for a day, comes back and spends another 2 months might.

2 year visa april 2011 to april 2013

visit 1 may-aug 2011
visit 2 feb/april 2012
visit 3 may /aug 2013 (this was only after 2 weeks)
visit 4 jan to march 2013.
almost lived 180 days in year 1 and almost 180 days in year 2
