Canadian applying for a t4 uk visa...please help!

Post by Fun.shine » Sun Jul 13, 2014 5:04 am

I sent in my application for my t4 uk visa this Friday and I have an appointment this Tuesday.
My questions are:
What should I expect when I get to the visa application centre? Will I be interviewed right there and then? What documents do I need to bring other than my confirmation of my appt. and visa application form?
Also, my girlfriend lives in the uk and we're planning on living together while we're both in school. I've visited her a few times and she's done the same. If they ask who I'll be staying with while I'm in the uk, should I be honest about it? Will this delay my application? I figured that they might reject my application because they'll think that I'll have no intention of leaving the country once my studies are over. Please help. Any insights or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You should be fine. Canada is a low risk country so they will not ask that many questions. Please take your bank statement, passport and all educational documents which has been used to issue the offer.

I think it will be better not to say that you will live with your girl friend as it may cause some unnecessary questions.

Hi,
Thank you so much for responding. I was going through this with a friend of mine, but the thing is...they have a record of me going to the UK visiting my girlfriend. I will actually be staying with her family for one week which is 5 hours away from where we'll be studying (which I think might raise some eyebrows) and then look for flats in Cornwall. So the address I provided is not my permanent address there. Should I still omit me living with her? I figured that I can't keep telling them that I'll be living with a friend when they have a record of me going there to visit her. What should I do?
I didn't know this but...I satisfied the maintenance funds for 28 days and got an official bank letter stating that, and after the letter I withdrew the funds to start moving money around to the UK. Will this raise some eyebrows? Will they contact my bank?
Also, they said that it might take 15 business days for it to get approved. Is it 15 days from when I applied online or 15 days from when I visit the visa application centre?
I would really appreciate it if you could get back to me. Thanks.

I think better option for you to say you are going to stay with a friend, only if they ask. But I don't think they will ask you about that.

Usually you supposed to keep the money till having the confirmation that the visa has been granted. Sometimes British High Commission ask the bank to check whether money is there or not. But in policy guidance it also says you can spend the fund if you are paying for your living cost or tuition fees. So I think you should be fine. As I mentioned you are coming from a low risk country and have a CAS from a University, you should be fine.

It usually around 2 to 3 weeks after the interview.

Again, thank you for responding. I really appreciate it. I'm probably freaking out over nothing, because I do have my CAS, an official letter from the bank, and I'm applying from Canada. I just don't want them to say...well, we have a record that you've been visiting your girlfriend. Then my answer would be switched to girlfriend instead of friend. I'm trying to be as close to the truth as possible because I just don't want to be caught in a web of lies. Obviously if they don't ask, I won't even bring her up. But if they point blank ask me, who's picking you up? I can't actually lie about that. I'm sorry for all of the questions, I'm just really nervous about tomorrow because it's the day that I'll be going to the visa application centre. I want this more than anything and I really want this visa approved. I just don't want to be rejected because I've tripped up on some miniscule thing as a friend/girlfriend situation.
