Is EEA Family Permit allows to work in France?

Post by zapotjh » Mon Jul 14, 2014 4:05 pm

Hello guys..

I'm wondering if I can work in Paris with Marriage certificate ?

I am offered in internship in Paris, September and currently staying in London with Tier4 Student Visa.
My visa expires on October this year, and I'm marrying with Swedish national this August in London.
And will apply EEA Family permit afterwards but applying for EEA Family Permit will take 2-3 months of process so I won't have a EEA Familly permit visa when I've got to start working.
EEA Family permit allows Non EEA Spouse to work in UK, but I'm wondering do I have to register there again to work in Paris or UK's EEA Family permit covers the right to work in other EEA Countries.
I've got this opportunity so hard, and it's my dream job..so I hope not to miss if there's way I can work there.

I've heard there's no problem working with Marriage Certificate in UK, but I'm wondering is it also applied to France?

The question is : Is Non EEA national, who is married with EEA in UK, allowed to work in France?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks

EEA family permit is an entry for the non-eu family member of EU national from outside the UK but you need to apply EEA2 RC after marriage if it will take place in UK. In theory EEA2 takes 6 months to process and sometimes takes more or lesser than that. But once you get EEA2 RC you will only be able to freely enters France together with your EU national partner and can stay up to 3 months there. However, in order to stay longer there and undertake employment then your EU national partner need to exercise her treaty rights by working, self employment, studying, self sufficiency etc.
Please donot send PM. Write in open forum to facilitate others too.

Hi Sheraz7
Thanks for you reply!!
Then you mean my EU national partner will need to exercise her treaty rights by working or staying etc in Paris?

Unfortunately, it seems not possible..
Now my partner is working and studying at the same time in UK and the Course is ending on July which will be the same end date of my Internship.

So we are planning to settle at somewhere together after my partner graduates..

I only have EEA family permit, and planning to do internship in Paris for 6 months, and my partner will be in UK while I'll work there.
Please let me know, in this case, Do I have to apply for Schengen visa, and eligible for that?

A schengen (tourist) visa does not usually allow work which includes internships.

Most probably you will need a national visa rather than a Schengen visa.

The French Embassy or the company you want to intern with may be able to help.
