Change from Maiden to Married name

All,
Apologies if this is touched on the forum before but see nothing and hence posting.
My wife and I got our ILR earlier this year (same day croydon PEO). To cover some background, though we are married for over 8 years never we never bothered to change her name from maiden to married in her passport (rookie, I know)!! Recently renewed the passport, which now has my name added to as a spouse in there. ILR and all previous extension(s) have been under her maiden name.
We will be applying for naturalisation (and subsequently British passport) early next year and I wanted to know:-

1) Is it possible to change her maiden name to married name at the time of naturalisation?
If it is, what usually is the process
2) Is it possible to change her name straight at the time of british passport application?

And finally, if either of option isnt available, what will be the best course of action? We have a house and in process for BTL which are both under joint names and trying to safeguard myself!
