British Citizenship for child born outside UK

Post by AMG2014 » Thu Jul 17, 2014 8:48 am

Hi,

I got the ILR along with my daughter in last Sep. My daughter was born in India & has been staying in India all along except brief period of Six months in UK. My wife also stays in India who had Tier 2 dependent visa up to Nov 13. She has been staying in India since 2011. I know that if I apply for my daughter's citizenship, it will be granted at discretion. However would like to know the probability of it getting approved. Has anybody have any data or inputs on this?

My wife works for an Indian IT company & has been waiting for suitable UK assignment after which she can come over to UK with my daughter. Also her mother was unwell due to which she had to move to India in 2011 to take care of her. Now some care taking arrangements have been made. Do I need to provide reasons in the MN1 application regarding the stay of my daughter outside UK? If I provide these reasons, will the Home office consider the BC application of my daughter?

Pls advise.

Unlikely to happen if the Mother is settled in India and doesn't have ILR.
