If my partner's dependent visa is rejected, will mine also?

Post by ziff » Thu Jul 24, 2014 9:04 pm

I've got a Certificate of Sponsorship for a tier-2 general (non-ICT) visa. I want to bring my longtime unmarried partner on a dependent visa but, long story short, she might get rejected due to insufficient documentation of the relationship.

If her application is rejected, will that cause mine to be rejected also? Or (assuming mine is otherwise sound), would they accept my application while rejecting hers? Pointers to official rules or others' experiences most welcome. Thanks.

A follow-up question is whether the apps need to be submitted at the same time. Could I get mine in and then wait for the needed documents for my partner's? (Or wait while we deliberate about whether she should apply for a dependent visa at all)

(added: we are both US citizens.)

If the main applicant's application is rejected, then any dependants will be rejected too. Not the other way round.

Thank you!

Do we need to apply at the same time? Or can I apply, then later have my partner apply, putting all evidence supporting our claim of partnership into that application?

Your partner can apply later. Its not mandatory to apply at the same time. Only apply when you are sure of all documents
