Switching from Tier 4 to Tier 2

Post by rubengillo » Fri Aug 01, 2014 12:12 pm

Dear all,

I completed my master in Computer Science here in November 2013. I am now studying a postgraduate course in management with another tier 4 visa which is due to expire in January 2016. I would like to know the following:

- I have been looking desperately for a job, all the times I secure interviews and at a certain point of the interview process, when the employer realizes that I am under student visa, they just get discouraged and say they don't sponsor for the given position and most of the time, they don't even want to process further my application. What I don't understand is that before I apply for a job, I make sure to check that the employer has the tier 2 sponsorship licence and according to new terms in the uk border website, employers don't require anymore the labor market test to provide sponsorship to tier 4 applicants. Why is that still so difficult? I have done over 10 interviews since January but I still face the same issue.

- As I already have a master here, if I get a job offer, can I get sponsored easily even as I haven't yet finished my current course or I should apply for the tier 2 from my Country?

Thanks for your advice and guidelines in advance.

the requirements for switching from T4 to T2G are in paras 16-18 of the policy guidance:
