EEA self sufficient on non EEA family member's income

Post by mmalinconia » Sat Aug 09, 2014 4:52 pm

Dear all,

I am EEA national (Latvian) and my husband is non EAA. He just got an EEA Family Permit and we are moving to the UK. He will apply for 5 years Residency Card. He is going to be employed full time and I will not work. In this case:

1) Do I need to get Registration Certificate before he applies for Residency Card?
2) Can I be exercising treaty rights as "self-sufficient" if I have some small savings and we will have a joint bank account where his salary is being transferred every month?
3) Is there a minimum amount of income per month (for 2 of us) we need to meet to be "self-sufficient"?
4) Do we both need comprehensive Health Insurance?
5) If I stated that I am self sufficient, in case we have kids, I am not able to get child benefits?

Thanks in advance for your answers!!

Yes. its fine

There is no fixed amount rather the individual circumstances are being considered
4) Do we both need comprehensive Health Insurance?
All family members need to be covered in CSI policy
5) If I stated that I am self sufficient, in case we have kids, I am not able to get child benefits?

Do you happen to know what is the maximum amount of funds/income for a person to be eligible for social assistance in UK? I want to know approx. amount so I can estimate how much funds I need to be "self-sufficient".
