Depending on the type of application that was refused, you will normally be allowed to continue or seek employment until the appeal has been finalised

What type of visa/leave you had before applying the current application? And what type of application have you made recently?

permanent residency under the EEA regulations 2006. My former spouse is an EEA national and I am a non eea national. I was issued a CERTIFICATE OF APPLCATION stating that I was allowed to work until the appliation was decided. Now it has been rejected and I have been allocated a hearing date. May I allow to work pending the hearing? If so, how can I prove it? I do not have any document stating my work eligibilty at all!! Help, please!!!!

You should continue presenting your COA as evidence of your right to work, although the application may have been refused, the condition of the COA will not change pending the outcome of your substantive hearing.

Unfortunately my COA has already expired. It says the employer can only accept it within 6 months since it was issued. My application has been rejected and my hearing is not going to take place in several months. What to do? Help!!

The condition attached to the COA still applies regardless of expiry, hand it to your potential employer, and they can contact the UKBA to confirm your eligibility to work. You have the right to work.
