Surrender of Indian Passport - Minor born in the UK

Hi,

I have a query regarding the surrender of Indian Passport and would highly appreciate your advice.

Applicants:

Father: British citizenship granted on the 10th June 2014. I previously held an Indian Passport
Child 1: Born in India (2007) and British Citizenship granted on the 27th May 2014. Previously held an Indian Passport
Child 2: Born in the UK (2011) and British Citizenship granted on the 27th May 2014. No previous passports ever held - 1st passport made was British

I intend to apply for OCI for the 3 of us in the future. When Child 2 was born in the UK, she was not registered at the Indian Consulate. Does she also have to apply for the Surrender/Renunciation of Indian Citizenship in order to acquire an OCI ?

Hi,

I'd like to reiterate the question. My daughter was not registered at the Indian consulate within a year of her birth and She was naturalized as a British citizen when she was 3 yrs old. I am applying to surrender Indian Passport for my Son and myself. I am confused if I have apply for my daughter too, and if I do, then what documents do I have to send for her application? As per the required supporting documents, they have asked for the original Last Indian Passport and as she was not registered we did not apply for her Indian passport. She holds a British passport and I have her full birth certificate. Would these documents be sufficient?
Would I be fined for not having her registered when she was born?

I would highly appreciate your advice and look forward to your reply.

The child is eligible for OCI on the basis of her father (you).

I am applying for surrender of Ind passport for my son and myself, does she also need to apply for a Surrender/renunciation of Indian Citizenship? She was Born here in the UK and was not registered at the Indian Consulate within 1 year. She was naturalized and holds a British passport.
